ABOUT

Hello! I'm Jim. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and have worked in private practice for the last eight years. During this time I have worked with a wide variety of clients and issues.

Challenge, difficulty, and suffering is, unfortunately, an inevitable part of our shared human experience. Sometimes we cope well, and even grow from these experiences, and at other times we need help - there is nothing wrong with this.

My role and heartfelt desire as your therapist is to help you to deal effectively with the challenges you're facing, and, if needed, to help you heal from your past hurts. My aim is to provide you with a professional, relaxed, warm, authentic, and engaging therapeutic experience. Even sharing a little humour (when appropriate) is not out of the question!

My approach to therapy includes: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) (teaching skills to help you to change your life). I also use Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) (learning to use our emotions effectively, and examining how our working relationship can be used to help you to grow). I will of course tailor my approach to match whatever we decide will work best for you!

I also have a keen personal and professional interest in mindfulness practice, and in helping people work through traumas (both single, and repeated incident traumas).
